Community guidelines

The Auto Electrical Australia forum is a place for drivers, DIYers and auto electricians to share knowledge about vehicle electrics. Everyone who posts agrees to these rules.

Not allowed, ever

Posts, comments or threads that contain any of the following will be permanently removed, and the member responsible may be banned:

  • Foul language or swearing, including partly hidden swear words.
  • Disrespectful communication: abuse, insults, harassment, discrimination, personal attacks or belittling other members.
  • Slanderous or defamatory comments about any person or business.
  • Complaints about other organisations of any kind, including businesses, websites, sellers, manufacturers and Ozautoelectrics. This applies to good and bad reviews alike. If you have a problem with a business, use its own complaints process or your state consumer affairs agency.
  • Self-promotion or advertising, including business names, phone numbers, prices, special offers, affiliate links or links to your own site or social media. Auto electrical businesses can list on our city sites instead.

Keep it on topic

  • Auto electrical topics only: wiring, batteries, charging, lighting, towing, 12V and 24V systems, diagnostics, air conditioning electrics, tools and parts.
  • Search the guides and forum before posting. Your question may already be answered.
  • Give useful details: vehicle make, model and year, what you’ve already checked, and any readings.

Keep it safe and legal

  • Don’t post advice that’s dangerous or illegal, such as bypassing safety systems, defeating airbags, or wiring that breaks road rules.
  • Work on high-voltage hybrid and EV systems, airbags, refrigerant and fixed 240V wiring is for licensed professionals. Discussion is fine; step-by-step DIY instructions aren’t.
  • Don’t post anyone’s personal details, including your own phone number or address.
  • Links to manufacturer instructions and official rules are welcome.

Moderation

Moderators review posts and enforce these rules. A post that breaks them will be permanently removed, and we may suspend or ban the member who posted it, with or without a warning depending on how serious it is. We don’t have to give reasons for removing a post. If you see a post that breaks the rules, please report it rather than replying to it. These rules form part of our terms of use.
